Customer Reviews

Okay so I have a 2 and 3 year old son and I never really thought they would like playhouses, not sure why but I just didn't consider it. Well on one trip to Menards (home improvement store) while we were in the garden department I noticed there is a huge area with a swing set and plastic playhouses for kids to play on. Heck who needs a park when you can go to Menards! Anyways, my boys were absolutely fascinated by all the Step 2 playhouses there were and they went in an out of each a million times! So when I heard about the Gather ; Grille Playhouse, I knew it would be a hit.
The Gather Grille Playhouse is not just a playhouse but it also has a bench and grill attached - this is like the playhouse for serious grillers! It is absolutely adorable! The house is big enough that I can fit inside it with my boys and since it is pretty open, tons of kids can fit in and around it. So far we have had about five kids at one time playing with it, ages ranging from 2-8.
The playhouse has so much, I don't even know where to start. First, there is a working doorbell (I will warn you that you need basically an eyeglass screwdriver to open it up to install the batteries.) My sons love to push it and invite each other in. Next there is a kitchen sink, fake fireplace with clock mantel, and a window. Then it opens up to a bench for two and a grill. You do get some grill tools and condiments, but we went out and purchased some play food perfect for "grilling!" I have eaten many hot dogs and hamburgers off that grill so far!
As far as installation goes, it was really easy. Since I wanted this up for my 2 year old's birthday party my 22-year-old brother came out to help and he put it together in about 1 hour. You don't need any fancy tools, just a drill/screwdriver. Then you stick on the stickers and are ready to play. I was very impressed with how easy it is to put together as I was worried it would be complicated.
Okay so I will say that this playhouse is expensive (almost $400) but what is nice is that it is big enough for a bunch of kids to play with at one time. Other houses are closed and only fit a few kids, while this house kids can play inside and outside of it (grill area) and not bother each other. Plus since it is by Step 2, I know I can trust it to last and withstand the abuse of my boys! I definitely recommend this to any parent and if you have a few young kids like me, it is worth it so everyone can place nice together without bumping into each other. Other than it being a little higher in price, I don't really have any other issues with it. It is pretty solid, durable, and my boys play with it everyday we are out in the yard.

I purchased this item for my grandson's 3rd birthday, he absolutely loves it. This house is very sturdy and the open air design allows quite a few kids to play in it together, I even fit in it. The bbq section is a big hit but I recommend purchasing various food items to promote the imagination. My son put it together without any assitance from anyone....he said it was fairly simple. I recommend this over the more expensive model...which I contemplated....but it was just a big house with nothing to do.
